News - First Time Standford Award Winners

First Time Standford Award Winners The Gladstone Pottery Museum has always prided itself on its motivational and hands-on school visits and this year it has recived the Sandford award for the first time.

The Heritage Education Trust gives the Sandford Award annually to museums which meets their criteria. The criteria looks at interpretation and the adherance to the curriculum, among other things.

The overall verdict was that 'The Gladstone Pottery Museum is very worthy of recieving its first Standford Award. The education staff members convey the daily working lives of the Victorian and later pottery workers in an interesting and engrossing way'.

The museum is now working on the judges recomendations to further imporve their service. Improvements include updating booking forms, purchasing a speaker system and training staff on interactive learning for the tour.
